MOUNT TABOR, CANA AND NAZARETH

In the footsteps of Jesus in the Galilee

Early in the morning we set off for Mount Tabor, which, according to Christian tradition, is considered the mountain of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Today the Transfiguration Church and the Greek Orthodox Elias Monastery are located on the mountain top. We enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the Jezreel valley to the Gilboa mountains.

Then we continue to the Arab village of Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle, namely turning water into wine at a wedding. Visit the Wedding Church of Cana with its interesting archaeological finds that go back to the time of Jesus.

Finally we continue to Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus' family. This is where Jesus spent his childhood. Visit of the Annunciation Basilica and the Annunciation Grotto. The Annunciation Grotto is a large cave where Mary lived and where the archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and announced that she was to be the mother of Jesus. We also visit St. Joseph's Church, which traditionally was built over the former workshop of Josef, the carpenter. At the end of the day we have the opportunity to taste Knafeh, a sweet Arabic specialty.
