CAESAREA, MOUNT CARMEL AND HAIFA
Discover the remains of the Roman city of Caesarea, the home of the Prophets Elijah and the Druze on Mount Carmel and enjoy a magnificent outlook to the Bahai Gardens of Haifa
We drive along the coast to Caesarea to visit the once magnificent port city built by Herod the Great. Visit the Roman ruins. Here in Caesarea Cornelius was baptized by the Apostle Peter, Paul was imprisoned here and Pontius Pilate had his residence in this city.

Then we continue to Mount Carmel. First we visit the small Carmelite Monastery of Al-Mukhraka, where almost 2900 years ago the biblical Prophet Elijah challenged the four hundred and fifty Baal prophets in a competition. Then we reach the Druze mountain villages Daliyat-el-Carmel and Isfiya, where we can taste typical Druze specialties and learn more about the customs and history of this ethnic minority of Israel.

After that we drive to the Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery of Haifa. Here in the crypt of the church is the grotto in which the Prophet Elijah is believed to have lived and preached to his followers.

Then we drive to a wonderful viewpoint over the Bay of Haifa and the impressive Bahai Gardens. We end our tour with a short walk in the Templer Colony of Haifa, the first Christian settlement of the German Temple Society in the Holy Land.
